Derek MinusDerek Minus is a barrister-at-law and a dispute resolution specialist.

An advanced and Accredited Mediator since 1992, he has conducted well over 1,000 mediations and conciliations for government panels and private matters involving contractual, workers compensation, building, franchising, family relationship, patent and property disputes. He holds a Masters in Law majoring in Dispute Resolution and is nationally accredited as a mediator. He has been appointed to various mediation panels for the Supreme Court of NSW since 1995.

A Chartered Arbitrator since 2002, he has worked as a part-time member of the New South Wales Local Court, District Court, Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal and Workers Compensation Commission, conducting thousands of hearings and delivering hundreds of awards. He is a chartered arbitrator and dual qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, by both arbitration and mediation and was the former President of the Australian Branch.

In twenty years practice as a lawyer he has been engaged to conduct the investigation, mediation or arbitration of numerous personnel and employee disputes. He is a:

  • Nationally Accredited to Australian National Mediator Standards
  • Accredited by the federal Attorney-General’s as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP)
  • Trained in Conflict Transformative mediation strategies
